Prevent Electoral Violence

A series of dialogue sessions on election violence and its mitigation, as well as the involvement of community policing in securing the electoral process, were held in Benghazi. These dialogue sessions targeted various civil society organizations and the police force, ensuring equal opportunities for male and female youth. This project concluded with an initiative proposed by the participants, encompassing the outcomes of the dialogue and the agreements that will serve as a significant reference for protecting elections and preventing election violence. The project succeeded in embedding concepts of limitation and prevention of election violence and played a crucial role in enhancing communication and trust between societal segments and authorities, particularly the Ministry of Interior, who collectively emphasized on the importance of collaboration among concerned parties for swift responses to election violence.

This project was funded by the United States Institute of Peace and in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, in partnership with the High National Election Commission and the Civil Society Commission.
